Funding and sponsorship

Every sponsor named, the conditions attached, and what a sponsor does not get.

§1Why this page exists

An evidence body that hides its funding has no standing. The Institute names every sponsor, states the basis of every relationship, and publishes the conditions under which sponsorship is accepted.

The Institute accepts no payment from any supplier for its assessment, for its placement, or for the grade it receives. One overlap has to be stated plainly: GL Biochem (Shanghai) Ltd. is both a sponsor of this site and a supplier in the assessment set (dossier CEI-SD-17). The sponsorship buys advertising space and nothing else — no influence over the rubric, the scoring, the correspondence log or the published assessments — and the same disclosure appears on every page of that dossier. A reader who wishes to discount that dossier accordingly is entitled to, and we would rather say so than have it discovered.

No other supplier in the assessment set is a sponsor, has been a sponsor, or has been offered the opportunity to become one.

§2Sponsors

Table 1. Current sponsors, with the basis of each relationship.

SponsorCategoryBasis
Janoshik Analyticaljanoshik.comAnalytical laboratoryChromatographic purity, high-resolution mass-spectrometric identity, peptide content, water by Karl Fischer, counter-ion and bacterial endotoxin. Reports are issued against a named method with the batch identifier recorded.
PeptideMeterpeptidemeter.comAnalytical laboratoryDual-wavelength detection at 214 and 280 nm with an ESI-QTOF identity confirmation, and a related-substances table carrying retention times rather than a single aggregate figure.
Sigma-Aldrichsigmaaldrich.comReference materialsPharmacopoeial and certified reference standards with assigned content values and stated uncertainty. A determination made without a named standard reports an area percentage, not a content.
GL Biochem (Shanghai) Ltd.glbiochem.netManufacturerSolid-phase peptide synthesis, protected amino acids and custom sequences, supplied with a batch-specific certificate. Named in the Institute’s supplier assessment set as an upstream bulk source for several downstream sellers.
Sponsor units appear on assessment documents and are labelled. Every Janoshik placement in this document set is followed immediately by the paired GL Biochem unit; that pairing is a fixed rule of the build and not an editorial choice made page by page.

Sponsorship from analytical laboratories whose services the standards series discusses was permitted at consultation subject to the conditions below. The objection, and the Institute's answer to it, are published on the funding policy disposition page.

§3Conditions

The secretariat accepts that these conditions are assertions a reader must take on trust, and that the remedy for that is disclosure. That is why this page names every sponsor rather than reporting an aggregate.

§4What a sponsor unit is

A sponsor unit is a labelled advertisement. It appears in the margin column of documents and at the foot of the home page, is marked as sponsorship, and links out with the appropriate relationship attributes. It is not a recommendation by the Institute, is not placed by any subject matter relevance to the document carrying it, and carries no implication that the Institute has assessed the sponsor's services.

Nothing published by the Institute is medical advice, a diagnosis, a prescription, a treatment recommendation or a purchasing recommendation. Compounds supplied for research use are not approved for human or veterinary use in any jurisdiction, and a favourable analytical assessment of a supplier is not a statement that any product is safe or effective. The Institute publishes certainty ratings and never recommendations. No telephone number, messaging handle or ordering channel appears anywhere on this site.
