§5System suitability and acceptance criteria

§5.1System suitability

Table 1. System suitability criteria. A determination is reportable only where every criterion is met at the time of analysis.

ParameterCriterionWhat it establishes
Calibration correlation, each solvent≥ 0.99Curve linearity
Repeatability, six determinations at the limitRelative standard deviation ≤ 15 %Method precision
Signal-to-noise at the limit of quantitation≥ 10Sensitivity adequacy
Resolution between adjacent solvent pairs≥ 1.0Peak identification reliability

§5.2Acceptance criteria

  • Class 1 solvents must not exceed their individual concentration limits; benzene 2 ppm, carbon tetrachloride 4 ppm, 1,2-dichloroethane 5 ppm, 1,1-dichloroethene 8 ppm, 1,1,1-trichloroethane 1500 ppm.
  • Class 2 solvents must not exceed their permitted daily exposure expressed as a concentration limit for the stated maximum daily dose.
  • Where the synthesis route is not disclosed, a full screen is required and the non-disclosure is recorded on the report.

§5.3Limitations

Nothing published by the Institute is medical advice, a diagnosis, a prescription, a treatment recommendation or a purchasing recommendation. Compounds supplied for research use are not approved for human or veterinary use in any jurisdiction, and a favourable analytical assessment of a supplier is not a statement that any product is safe or effective. The Institute publishes certainty ratings and never recommendations. No telephone number, messaging handle or ordering channel appears anywhere on this site.
